DUI
DON'T PLEAD GUILTY!

Don't make the same mistake that so many others arrested for drunk driving (impaired driving) make and plead guilty to your DUI-DWI-OWI-OUI charge. If you went to your physician and learned that you had cancer, would you just quit, without a fight? A DUI is like LEGAL cancer. The burden of proof is on the prosecution, meaning that they must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you are guilty of the crime for which you are charged. Fortunately, hundreds of drunk-driving defenses exist, and a knowledgeable trial lawyer knows how to challenge the evidence against you. In many jurisdictions, a high percentage of cases challenged by a top-shelf attorney can result in your charges being reduced, dismissed or (if trial is required) for you to be acquitted.

I am also a member of both: Georgia Association Of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and The National College For DUI Defense

Drug Crimes

There are many highly technical aspects to drug crimes cases that require an experienced, creative, and assertive attorney. Because of are established schedules influencing minimum punishment, and because the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) can escalate cases to the federal level, an experienced drug crimes attorney is a must.  Our firm is  prepared for whatever turn your case may take.

Some attorneys’ entire defense strategy revolves around a plea agreement. However, The Perry Law Firm will carefully examine all possible defenses that may be available in your case before deciding if a plea agreement is right for you. It is not uncommon for law enforcement officers to violate Fourth Amendment rights and unlawfully search individuals or their property.  We will do everything possible to suppress any evidence law enforcement obtained while acting illegally during the course of your drug arrest.

Juvenile Crime

Juvenile law applies to young children and teenagers—usually defined as less than eighteen years old, depending on the state. Minors accused of breaking the law are processed under a juvenile justice system. This system is completely separate from the one used for adults, and the penalties involved are usually far less severe than in the adult system. Juvenile law also carries certain protections that do not apply to adults; for example, names are kept confidential and parents can be present during police questioning. A lawyer who specializes in juvenile law will help minors understand the juvenile justice system and present their defense in juvenile court.  My background in teaching and special education help me go above and beyond most lawyers in this field.

Misdemeanors

Misdemeanors are crimes such as disorderly conduct, simple assault, shoplifting and trespassing that are punishable by less than a year in prison. Although misdemeanors are less serious than felonies, having a misdemeanor conviction on your criminal record can limit your employment options and can result in a jail sentence. Ensure that you receive a fair trial.

Felonies

If you have been charged with a felony, it is essential that you retain an experienced criminal defense attorney to zealously defend you in court. Felonies are the most serious crimes — such as murder, rape, armed robbery, credit card fraud and burglary. Felony convictions also have the most serious consequences. A person convicted of a felony is sentenced to serve at least one year in a state or federal prison, and may be committed for life. In addition, convicted felons are stripped of many of the rights guaranteed to American citizens, including the right to vote, the right to travel out of the country and the right to own a gun. Convicted felons also have to disclose their crimes on job applications and can be deported if they are not American citizens.

Sex Crimes

Accused, Suspected, or Charged with a Sex Crime? Now What?

If you or someone you know has been accused of child sexual abuse, rape, molestation, or any other sex crime, do not talk with the police or child protective services without an attorney present.

Please do not make the unfortunate mistake of waiting and hoping that the accusations will fade, or that the police will drop the charges without the influence of an experienced sex crimes attorney.

Do not rush into hiring a general-practice attorney. When you are charged with a sex crime, your opponent will likely be a prosecutor who routinely handles sexual abuse cases. Due to this specific experience, he or she may have an advantage over the defense attorney. We however, have been focusing mainly on sex crimes.
